In order for a house to be a home and retain the highest property value, all aspects of the house must complement each other. A new roof looks great and protects your entire home from the elements. The siding and trim streamline the look of and help protect your largest investment. Building exteriors are typically made up of a multitude of materials and surfaces whose primary task is to maintain a barrier between the interior of the building and the weather. Roof flashing is usually the last line of defense in the battle against water penetration. Flashing forms the intersection and terminations of roofing systems and surfaces. The most common locations for roof flashing are at chimneys, eaves, rakes, skylights and step walls (where a roof meets a wall).

Fascia is a term used in architecture to refer to a frieze or band running horizontally and situated vertically under the roof edge or which forms the outer surface of a cornice and is visible to an outside observer. Soffit refers to the material forming a ceiling from the Siding 2top of an exterior wall to the outer edge of the roof, i.e., bridging the gap between a home’s siding and the roofline, otherwise known as the eaves. Siding is the outer covering of a building; it acts as a key element in the aesthetic beauty of the structure and directly influences its property value. Avoiding wind and rain infiltration through the joints is a major challenge, met by overlapping, coveringSiding 3 or sealing the joint, or by creating an interlocking joint such as a tongue and groove or rabbet. Since building materials expand and contract with changing temperatures and humidity, it is not practical to make rigid joints between the siding elements.
